CITY WIDE: WEST DAYTON PROJECT

IN 2020, MYSELF AND PHOTOGRAPHER SHON CURTIS WORKED WITH CITY WIDE DEVELOPMENT TO CREATE BRANDING AND SIGNAGE FOR THE WEST SIDE OF DAYTON, OHIO.

DURING THE PROJECT SEVERAL THINGS CAME TO FRUITION:

  • A COLOR PALETTE WAS CREATED

  • A LOGO WAS DESIGNED

  • A DESIGN AESTHETIC WAS IMPLEMENTED

  • SEVERAL DIFFERENT BANNERS WERE MADE

  • VARIOUS SIGNS WERE DEVELOPED

  • A FEW BUILDING WRAPS WERE FABRICATED

  • A MURAL WAS PAINTED THAT MATCHED THE DESIGN AESTHETIC OF THE PROJECT

THE LOGO IS A REPRESENTATION OF SEVERAL THINGS. FIRSTLY A LANDSCAPE WITH A RISING SON SYMBOLISING A NEW DAY, SECONDLY THE RED, MAROON, AND PURPLE TRIANGLES ARE AN INTERRPRITATION OF THE W OFTEN THROWN UP WITH FINGERS BY PEOPLE FROM THE WEST SIDE OF ANY CITY, AND LASTLY THE SHARP ANGLE OF THE GREEN TRIANGLE IS MEANT TO ILLUSTRATE THE WRIGHT BROTHERS FLIGHT PATTERN.

THE FIVE DIFFERENT COLORS OF THE COLOR PALETTE WERE MATCHED WITH FIVE DIFFERNT WORDS THAT REPRESENTED THE IDENTITIY OF WEST DAYTON. THEN PHOTOGRAPHER SHON CURTIS SELECTED PEOPLE THAT REPRESENTED THE WORDS THAT IDENTIFIED WEST DAYTON MAKING FOR COHESIVE DESGNS AS WELL AS IMPECCABLE REPRESENTATION.

THROUGH OUT THE PROJECT A GEOMECTRICAL PATTERN CREATED BY ME WAS USED IN VARIOUS DIFFERNT WAYS. THE GEOMETRIC PATTERN WAS USED ON BANNERS, SIGNS, BUILDING WRAPS, WITHIN THE LOGO, AND WAS IMPLENTED INTO A MURAL NEXT TO G&Dā€™S AUTO DETAIL LLC.
